The St. Gerard Walkathon is a not-for-profit operation,
but it is not an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization. Donations made on-line (including those
specified for Birthright or Spring House), and those made
with checks payable to Kathleen Laplante, SGW, or to the
St. Gerard Walkathon, are generally not tax-deductible.
Those monies go into a checking account used solely for
walkathon transactions. The account has been set up in
the name of Kathleen Laplante, Founder, and is managed
in a non-profit manner. After operating expenses are paid,
and donations specified for either Birthright or Spring
House, are disbursed, remaining proceeds are divided
evenly between Birthright and Spring House.
